Sacramento Street Bridge Project Update - December 2021

The structural components of the Sacramento Street Bridge, including the bridge span, abutment supports, retaining walls, and deep pile foundations, are complete. The final work needed to prepare the bridge to open for traffic on Sacramento Street, including the roadway approach work, are under construction now.

While poor soil conditions severely delayed the construction of the bridge, it is anticipated to be partially opened to through traffic by the end of the month, pending weather events. This partial opening of the bridge to traffic will allow completion of the second stage of construction which includes final pavement, sidewalk, and utility work.

Once the Bridge has been opened to through traffic, it is anticipated that the remaining work can be completed by the end of January 2022, however, additional delays due to winter rain events are expected in the coming months.
